well got the garage finished up and the wood burner stoked up. yesterday i got the corp 14 rear all shaved and the shock mounts and leaf spring perches cut off and ground smooth. ready to weld on the tabs for the four link.
1tonwilly's
02-07-2010, 09:17 PM
got some more done on the build. PULLED the four link brackets off the frame, they came off way to easy. so i went to discount steel and bought some material to fish plate the frame where it is but welded. also cleaned all the brackets and unnessisary stuff off the d-60. went to tractor supply got the welding gas filled. now im just waiting on parts to arrive, my good buddy brent took the liberty of ordering my parts for me to get this going. he ordered my creeper joints and the tabs to weld on the axels. and also the ba 16'' saw air shocks. yeah boy. oh and the weld in bungs
well then i figured it would be a good time to go to my SCARY basement lol. and see what i had down their from my other projects, turned out to be worth it, i found my ballistic fab high steer arms ss braided brake lines ramsey re13k winch new orbital and ram oro on board air amongst a crap ton of other goodies,
tonight i found my new set of tires so next sat i will be road triping across the border for a set of 42-15-15 super swampers and xtra wide rims and a killer offset. till next weekend or until i order new parts. later
ps i will have my wife post some updated pics as soon as she gets done reading her damn book. i didnt even know she knew how to read??? lol maybe thats why its taking so long.:D no im just kidding

1tonwillys, our buddy Brent and I spent the entire day out in the garage with the door open and enjoying the weather. We finally had all the parts and materials to get the 4 link finished up. We were able to get everything tacked up and the shocks mounted in the rear. So far the rear, double triangulated 4 link turned out legit! The upper links are adjustable 5 different ways from 82-141* anti-squat. I gotta say, the pictures don't do this justice, but here's the days work.

1tonwillys and I were back at it this weekend, this time we were tackling the front 4 link setup. The original plan was to double triangulate it the same as the rear, but didn't kid ourselves either; and ordered brackets accordingly. Well, as it turns out, the low pinion chev D60 front drive shaft and the passenger lower link bar both need to occupy the same space at full flex. So we moved to plan B and moved the lower links outward enough to clear the front output flange on the 300. That sill gives us a decent bit of lower triangulation, keeps the link bars tucked up to the flat skid and the numbers where we want them. The upper link bars should be pretty straight forward with respect to placement, and since this build isn't going to be dragging the belly in the weeds with a ~28" belly ride height everything should / will clear the starter, oil filter and main pulley.
We bent up a front truss and made it as low profile as we could to try to clear everything at full stuff. We'll have to clearance the frame on the passenger side a slight bit, but that's minor. It just barely touches the truss.
The pics dont look like a full days work, but here's a couple anyway.

1tonwillys and I put in a good 12 hrs out in the shop yesterday. We were able to get the air shocks tuned, filled with N2, mounted in the rear and got that sitting on it's own weight once again.
Once we got the rear finished up, it was onto the front. After pulling the tape measure twice and cutting once we got the front 4 link bars tacked into place. After that we lowered the front down to full stuff and realized the upper link bars on the axle side would contact the harmonic balancer and cause bad things to happen. So we're going to cut those out and move them around a bit to make room. All in all, it was a nice productive day. Here's some pics.
