could you go into depth a little on why you frown on body lifts? a body lift is like sitting in a cheap lawn chair, thats just my opinion . also put alot of stress on body mounts with the extra leverage !!:D

i agree with you mostly, but i like a small body lift just to make it easier to get a things underneath. its nice to be able to get at tranny bolts without issue. 3" would be my max for a body.

welcome to the site and i disagree with what was said about body lifts put it in 3 inches is not goin to kill u but if its a kit your fine just dont start putting pipe and stuff like that in there and dont go over 3 inches on a street truck

What are you using for paint?
f150kid
09-16-2009, 07:02 PM
What are you using for paint?
rust-oleum single stage bought at fleet farm (basically implement paint)
gloss saftey yellow
with hardener
thinned with vm&p naptha
its a strong paint and you can wet sand it and buff and turns out damn near like clear coat would for way way cheaper

if you got the time and the right tools alot can happen with a little money. i would mount the radiator in the back with an electric fan nobody wants to over heat, when your running 35" your lower to the ground getting mud sprayed everywhere by the fan. eliminating that will stop a lot of headaches, i have been there myself. its a lifestyle enjoy building your truck!!!!

I ran a 4 inch body lift in my last ford, and 5 inch suspention lift, The lift outlasted the truck. I used capped off steel tubes on top of the stock rubber bushings, I wouldn't recommend it for a daily driver tho.
soylent_green

For a daily driver I'd stay away from body lifts. Even with out of the box kits, there is a greater chance of catastrophic body/frame separation in a crash or roll over.
(Not saying it WILL happen, but I have seen pictures of trucks with 3" body lifts, where the frame is in the ditch, and the cab is off in the woods.)
Besides that, I've always thought they look kinda tacky. You're spending so much time on the paint and body, you should do the suspension right too.

anyone know how much tire i could run on a 4" suspension lift? without rubbing
trucknorris
10-01-2009, 03:54 PM
You should be able to run 34's with no problem, just be sure your back spacing is enough to not rub the front trailing arms.

She is a little close to the top of the door lol i had to pull the door back and put a vise grip in the trac to keep it from sitting on the roof of the truck

I managed to snap the nut off the trailing arm

decided it would just be easier just to cut it and pull out to fix it

Well, all the rusted up original hardware blows goats. But if you don't have problems with that, they're not bad.
Good luck finding a truck that age with non-rusted chassis hardware......

If you can go without selling it, I'd suggest at least waiting a while. Right now, there are so many people trying to get some cash, you'll never get close to enough money for it. Or put a for sale sign in the back window, but don't get talked down. It might take a while to find someone willing to give you enough money for it, but if you can wait, that's better than letting it got for peanuts.
Looks really good! Shine up those rims, and it'll be perfect!

seen it sitting at MC Donalds in Waite Park Some steel wool and a razor blade should take off the overspray on the window nicely

what size tires did you go with? Keep the truck if you can if you buy a house you will need more than ever. Looks good though.
