Nice truck.

As for making it road worthy, I'd start by making sure all of the essentials are good (brakes, repacking wheel bearings, making sure the steering is tight, lights/turn signals). You should also get yourself a decent rear bumper. Good luck!

if you have the full time transfer case you cant just put lockouts on it for 2 wheel drive. there is a conversion kit available to make the trasfer case able to work as a 2 wheel drive though. Although it could be possible it was already converted or just an axle swap was done without lockouts

Well i dont really know a whole lot of stuff about trucks thats why im in the learning process and also why i come on here cause people are helping learn. Well its a regular transfer case i forgot the name its the one when its got its only seperate drive shaft to tranny. How do you make a transfer case full time? its stuck in 4 low ?

that would be the 205, which is a part time case. the 203 which is a full time case is most always mated to the transmission. the 205 could be mated or divorced like yours

to be able to tell you can look for a tag on the front side of the t-case loacted in about the middle near the jack shaft end, or compare it to some pics on the net

as for the disk brakes, on my chevy, i just pulled the front x-member out of an 82 and swapped it right in to my 68. dont know if it would be that easy on a ford, but you could check it out. all i had to do was drill a few new holes, and i also changed the master cylinder to add the booster.

Ok ya my transfer case is divorced because my uncle should it to me a while back. So what would i have to do to put lock outs on it then? Would i still have to get a converson kit or since its part time i dont have to worry about it? But what would be the e problem if its just stuck in 4 low?

I was thinking disk brakes. Whats a x-member? And were did you have to drill the holes at?

the cross member is the part the is bolted onto the frame, holding the wheels, spindles, hubs, etc. and the motor mounts on the chevy were also attached to this x-memeber. all the holes i had to drill were easy. i just set it into place, and three of the holes lined up, so i just drilled a new hole for the one that didnt. youll see it when you get in there. if a ford is the same that is. here is some pics of mine when i was doing it. you can see the x-member and the holes i had to drill.

Nice work and it will some time down the road. You really need to go though all that work to convert to disk brakes?

you can just change the spindle, but on mine (and others depending on the year), you would have had to change the ball joints and some other crap too. i was already pulling the motor and tranny, so for me this was easier. went really smooth. you would also need to make sure the caliper would line up right, i didnt need to worry about it swapping the whole x-member. only took about 2 hours.

Ya i dont know what to do maybe down the road if i dont put disk brakes on it im going to swap in a dana 60 front end in it. So what are using that truck for like a daily drive or show truck

havent really made up my mind. i was gonna use it to just haul crap around, but now im looking at buying another truck, so i might just beef it up a bit and haul a** instead. body doesnt need too much work. cab corners and rockers basically.
d60 would be a good choice if your gonna play hard with it. and then you should already have the disks..

Ya with this beast of mine its gonna be a pull truck for my mud truck and to drive a round and to play hard. I need to get cab corners for my truck to and couple of other things

no you wouldnt have to change the whole front x member like trail blazer did, His is a 2 wheel drive. so all you will need to do for the disk brakes is to swap the knuckles out for a set of disk brakes and outer axles shaft .For the lock outs it would be as simple as removing the the pucks and installing the lockouts. No need for the the coversion for the t-case since its a part time case already.

As for it being stuck in low gear it could be that the linkage is just froze up or rusted hard to say

Ya im pretty dumb i really never looked over the truck and according to my uncle its got disk brakes. And for the lock outs do i have to find a specfic application

ox_man

there are a couple styles, would be best to get them from the same year and style truck, unless you can look at them and know what to look for when you go to the junk yard

CaliforniaMudder
07-22-2009, 11:31 PM
Ya well for the different styles like my full time hub it has nuts to un screw
