u need to cut the frame under the front of the cab so u have enough frame to bend in for a tounge u just notch the frame infront of the box bend the frame into the middle then get a chunk of square stock and run that from a crossmember in the frame out to the point and weld it in and put ur coupler of choice and safty chains on

i got a couple my dad built. I'll take a couple pics tomorrow if i remember. or if you want to come look at it we could work that out too. the longer the tounge the better i think.
What kind of axle are you going to use?

Its ok to use the truck rearend. I would use the 14blt, but slide the shafts out and make caps for the ends and then pack the bearing with grease.
One of the trailers my dad has is set up like that and then the ring and pinion was removed and the pinion was caped off. Doesn't save much for wieght but it makes moving by hand easier i think.

i have just went to the dmv and filled out the paperwork for a homeade trailer and got the lifetime license
the 3/4 ton and 1 ton rearends are nice cuz u can slide out the axles and never have to worry about lube in the diff
hell on wheels

that is exactly what i did to my trailer except i just made the caps pulled the ring and carrier then i left the pinion in and filled it with oil. never had a problem with it i towed 1.5 tons of scrap over 200 miles like that and never had any problems with the bearings. and i hauled many more things than that too. it was a great trailer but someone wanted it more than me and made me a deal i couldnt refuse cause i guess a long box stepside is rare or somethin and he wanted the box........oh well.
oh and also i belive on a chevy you cut the frame somewhere right behind the front cab mounts where the straight part bends back upwards again. hope that helps!

If I remember right I think my dad had cut right behind the front body mount with this trailer. Truck was like a late 60's early 70's I think Ford
