I have a broke my t-case and front driveshaft twice now i think i am bottoming out my front shaft. This started hapening after i lowered my springs mounts and made my shakels longer giveing me more lift and more travel.http://forums.minnesotamud.com/showthread.php?t=4446
After the first time i got a longer travel front shaft 9" of travel cost me $500. Than went out wheeling and did the same thing. I am breaking my cv joint and my t-case.http://forums.minnesotamud.com/picture.php?albumid=38&pictureid=693 I am thinking of adding some bumpstops to limit my travel but i am not shure why i am breaking so i dont know if this will help. DOES ANY ONE HAVE ANY IDEAS

throw a lil jb weld on there and ur good to go .
the bump stops are one way to start . u really couldnt hurt anything by putting them in and trying that . and there prolly cheap to .

Just cause it cost a lot, has a lot of travel, doesn't means it fits.
Sure looks like a too long of a collapsed drive shaft problem to me.
If you've a welder and know how to weld...try a square drive shaft.
And give your self over 12" of collapse area of what your current $500 shaft is.

Is it possible that your u-joints are binding and causing the problem?
What does your pinion angle look like before, and after your new lift?

Are your driveshafts straight? If not that can cause it to bind up and cause that to happen. Also you could put torsion bars on, i believe that is what they are called and that would help with flex and some other things too. Just another preventive measure.

check for driveshaft binding at full droop. You might have to put limiting straps on it.

yea I think you have a binding problem I got rid of the cv joint and used 1410 yoke it can take way more angle.

the cv on my drive shaft will run a 60* angle and i have a 1410 joint on my front end the front is shimed 6* i think

Sounds good. Couldn't hurt to put bump stops on, you should really have them on the truck anyway. Do you have the support bar from the t-case to the trans. on the truck?

yea i have the support bar i think bump stops will solve my problem otherwise i am thinking of linking my front suspesion

lift the front up on the driveshaft side and see how much room u even have befor it bottoms out and to see if the driveshaft is binding u might have other problems

Hey if you want to put a remote 205 in it I got a few of them 250$ a piece. That will take the angle out of the question and clean my garage!!

In my book you were over charged, a 9" slip is an off the shelf Spicer part.
I'd remove those stops and figure out your drive shaft length.
What is the extension and collapsed length of your drive shaft?
What is the length of the t-case yoke to the axle yoke?
Can you drive your pumpkin side up on a ramp and measure the distance from t-case to axle yoke again?

Not with a 60 degree cv joint like he has.

i was thinking would it be possible to mount your springs rigid in the rear and put the shackles in the front so it moves forward instead of rearward?

Like mudevil said it was a complete driveshaft with a 60 cv joint
i measured my extended and collapsed length and the shaft is the right length but my shocks can bottom out so thats what the stops are for. To compress my suspension i wraped a come-a-long around the frame and alxe and cranked it down.

Thats doable but it's inferior to having the shackle in the rear.

well i got my truck fixed and it broke again so f it i am going to put the motor in the box and run 2 t-cases one on my tranny and a divorce

i would go with a divorced transfer you can usually find them for about 300$ i think your pushn it for angles i had a 8in lift and was almost out of angle on my front drive shaft, in your picture it looks like your front shackles are twisting

yeah thats what i would have done if i broke my tcase the first time is look to see how to double a np205 and np203 or a np208 im going to do this someday anyways. i have not seen a tcase shatter like that before i have seen them crack from people hiting stumps rocks and had a ujoint go bad and finish the case off i would go with a np205 for the case housing anyways. here some sites on tcases and doubler info.

If you are going to put the motor in back. build a chain drive for it. you have to reverse the rotation anyways.

Yea just go to your local tractor dealer pick up some bearings and some sprockets and a chain, i dont know how to excactly fabricate one but i have seen a few truck with that setup, nice thing bout it is you can change your sprockets instead of your gears in your axles. also eliminate havin a t-case ever comin apart on ya
