50 dodge the new mud truck

well i started mudding with my 89 k5 blazer fun yes but i needed to change so i started building my new one its a 1950 dodge pickup body on a k5 blazer frame four bolt main 350 horse 350 and 38 inch super swampers. the pic is not with the swampers but with a set of 35 " generals on AR solid aluminum 6 lug wheels wich i want to sell.

well as for the paint job my brother and i did that about 10 years ago but im painting it fire engine red with black 8 inch stacks from a cat front end loader. and im still looking for keg if anyone has an idea where i can get an empty one for cheap.

oh you should see it out this summer. i will of course be at mudfest and i will probably be in crown if he decides to open his pit this year i havent asked my friends to talk to the owners kid yet. but im gunna have to stay out of the trails cause the truck has around a 8 and a half cab hight.

i was stuck right next to you labor day weekend. i had electrical problems with my truck all weekend there so ive scraped any fuel injected crap for my good strong carberated 4 bolt main 350. and as for those AR rims and tires if anyone wants them i will take 300 for them.

well i found my gas tank its not a keg but it will do its a side tank from a 1965 deuce and a half. it should do kind big though its a 30 gallon tank. but for 20 bucks i cant complain.

yeah i thought it was a good find.

i just ordered my cam on thursday and got it on saturday i thought that was fast so i will put it in today and i think im gunna wire up the the motor just to hear it run but chances are im nt gunna get that done. and i just finnished my u joint steering link and clamped a chunk of a inner tube to the shaft to keep the mud out of the u joint i thought it wasnt a bad idea.

yeah, there isnt really anything new that big stuff ive just beeen working on tieing up loose ends with the body mounts. and im hoping i can find a front axle with 456 gears, i picked up a new trany for it cause my old one had a stress crack running half way through one side of the houseing. and im still on the hunt for a keg. so i really have left is to mount my gas tank radiator do the exhaust plum the truck build a fire wall wire it and mount the front clip.

thanks guys i just hope i can get it done by memorial weekend i only got two and a half months, and alot of work not only on the mud truck but also on my pull truck. the motor went to **** has bad valves putting a new one in and puting new heads on the old one and dumping that in the s10

okay so i got my truck on some hoopty tires it looks so funny there some low pros from an eagle talon. but i needed to so i could get it in and out of the garage. and i had a change of mind about paint im going to strip off the grafitti and have a rat rod mud truck so its name is now the mud ratt.

good stuff, good luck with the 203, they dont like staying locked in. i remember as a kid my dad telling me to keep my foot pressed up against the tcase shifter and he said i better not let off otherwise were done. ah the good ol days

well i havent had any problems with it yet and i would rather be using the 203 rather then a 208 and its not quite in my budget yet to get a 205 not to mention a 205 with a adapter for the turbo 350 trans. besides if my 203 starts to go to hell, i got two spare203s in the back yard. but i will keep an eye on it to see if it starts slipping out of gear.

but anyways the wont be going to memorial day mudfest i just dont have enough time to finnish it. the only way i could have it done in time is if i half assed it and i dont want to redo something cause i was being impatiant.

well the truck is getting closer to being completed and i just picked up my new axles for it. 14 blot rear dana 60 front 456 gears and a locked rear so i think they should turn the 38s alright.

the snorkle stuff well the plenum that goes on the carb i picked up at pep boys and the rest of the snorkle i made from 4 inch exhaust tubing and im just using a simple cone filter under the dash.

im going to be running a set of 38 inch swamper tsl's. but it will look very odd haulling up there on my little hoopty tires but i need to so i can fit it between the fenders on my trailor.

Them tires you have need a 60. I broke plenty of 44 axles with them. Cant wait to see them on another truck. I will be there to watch.

you are right that them tires need a 60. so thats why i went and picked up a new set of axles from a 1 ton us navy truck 14 bolt rear with a locker and a dana 60 front. oh and 456 gears in them, alot better then 373s.

its allways a good time up there and it is comming up way to fast. i still need to mount my front clip and change my tranny, not to mention i still need to change a trans cooler line in my pull truck.

axles i got from a guy up in askov he has a thing for millitery stuff and has a nice collection. and i finnished the truck but i broke my tranny in half first time out and rebuilt a different tranny the next day at mudfest.
