you need lower gears then 4.11 and a stick wouldnt hurt

You could use 4-lo. That gains alot of gearing ratio, especially with a 350 and 4.11 gears. I will be pushing 33's with my bronco that has a 5.0. and 3.55 gears. I used 4-lo and 2nd gear with the 31's on it now and it was too much gearing. 33's will rock with 4-lo. Try it though and see how it feels before you change axle gears because that can be expensive.

When i was running my 33's in four low i was completely revved out, these aren't huge tractor tires i'm assuming they are like mid 40's.

bolt them on and try them out but i think u will be happier with the lower gears

Granted his tractor tires are about a foot bigger than 33's but he also has a bigger engine, lower gears, and it isn't his DD so he can keep it in the higher RPM's and be fine because he does not have to worry about breaking anything. I ran my truck around 5,000rpm's all day and it didn't hurt a thing. He will be fine. Not everyone has to have a monster 700hp big block with 5.83 gears and lockers to have fun. The tires will do their job of cleaning themselves out as long as his truck turns them at all. Too much wheel spin isn't a good thing either. You just dig yourself into a deeper hole. I also helped a guy work on his truck at the last bog I went too. He had a 78-F-150 with 1-ton axles with 44" boggers and a stock 460 that had a timing issue and didn't run right. He didn't have his full power. He also only had 4.10 gears and he ripped up the pit in 4-hi and 4-lo with a C6 that only had D and 2nd gear. You'll be fine man. Go out there and rip it up, and if you want more power, you can swap in lower gears. Try it out. These trucks are a hobby, you have to guess and check. you'll figure it out. I apologize for the long message too.

one other thing to think about is your 10bolt frount, big tires and a 10bolt is not a good combo.

That is true but he should be able to make it survive if he doesn't have a front locker.

It will still be hard for that axle and probably not last with any sort of power running threw it.

just bolt the stuff on and try it if it works great if it doesnt try something else you won't know until you try different things every truck is different.

I wouldn't weld the front end. It is death to front end parts and you will pretty much lose all ability to steer and stuff may bind while steering. If you can afford a locker go with that, They have some give when turning. You can weld the rear-end that would be fine but make sure you do a quality job because you don't want any of it coming apart and destroying your rear-end. I've seen what happens when one of the welds breaks.

Alright, wont i loose quite a bit of power if i have a front locker and the rear end welded?

Shouldn't, but you'd be much more prone to breaking things up front.

I think i'll just leave the front then and weld the rear, This thing should go through alot more than it did with thirty three's!

Like previously stated, I would try it but I would also bring along some spare u-joints/shafts, I don't think it will last too long if you wheel hard.

Alright, i got an extra front and rear shaft and u joints so i should be ok

botling on tractor tires takes making new rims or new rim centers. if u can get 20.8 -20s that would be way more then ur truck could handle. tractor tires arnt mesured like truck tires. 18.4-38s on 16 inch rims stand over 5 feet tall. Our loder tractor has 18.4-34s on 16s in the rear and i beleve 12.4-20s on 12 inch rims.

I ran 45" tall tractors with a mild 327 and 4 speed dana 60 front and only broke one axle and thats because the u-joint froze up. I could spin in 2 nd fairly easy

They came ot to be 372 after tax, Their 38x12.5x16.5 TSL and their pretty decent a little bit of custom groving done. They have some really good deals on nice tires. They have 44" Ground Hawgs that are custom grooved like tractor tires with like inch and a quarter lugs with chevy 8 bolt rims for 600$. And some Gumbo 35's that are 15" wide with alot of tread on chevy 8 bolt rims for 250$.

hey, i could use a set of tractor tires. my main mudder i started three years ago still needs skins. preferably with rims if anyone know where to get a full set. i think 3/4 ton axles and 4-lo would do just fine for now. you can always upgrade l8er. that's my plan for now.

those 38's should turn a lot better then the tractor tires. you'll be able to get the wheel speed to clean them out atleast

My brother has a '79 Bronc with a 4" lift and a stock 460 with stock 3.50 gears. He started using old ditch witch tires with tubes in them. The fit on some 10" wide ford wagon wheel rims we had layin around. They are very wide and are a little bigger than 35's in height. That old tired bronco rips pretty good with that wide of a tire and tractor type tread. We savin to buy some new ones like it. :arf:
