one of my good friends is selling his 89 bronco. its got 140 something thousand miles and is kindve rough around the edges. rusted out above rear wheels. 33 inch mud rovers with about half tread left. painted flat black. runs a little rough too. he has it listed for 500 in the southern minnesota star, but hed sell it to me a little cheaper i think.

my question is, should i buy it and fix it up or put a body lift and 33 inch TSLs on my chevy?

what do you guys think?

You could buy it and put a cheap suspension lift in. A new rough country 4 inch lift is just about 500 bucks.

Not everyone has the money John... Another thing to think about is what kind of condition is your chevy in? Might want the bronco for wheeling with and keep your chevy in nice condition. Also the bronco has a fantastic turning radius and ir pretty light which makes it nice for wheeling.

I'd take it if it has the 351. May only need a minor tuneup. If you want something to take off road, the bronco will fit into tighter spots than the truck. If nothing else, you could part it out for more than what you pay for it.

where'd you get the idea of body lifting a chevy? Oh, I see, you live in mankato.

When you run a body lift, you also run your stock suspension.

Do the bronco. Need more fords in town anyways

Hey 89 would the bronco have a C6?

i would say it would have an E40D not a c6 if its fuel injected the trans would be computer controlled

'89, probably an AOD. If it is a 3 speed auto, then probably a C6.

should be an AOD if it's an automatic. 4spd with overdrive.

I think 89 was first year for E40d wasn't it? I thought since it was 351 it would be C6. Wishful thinking.

Not sure. I could have sworn mine originally came with an AOD. But I could be wrong.

Yours probably did cause you have a 302 same as Josh with his 88 f-150. I just thought with the bigger motor you still had the C6 I know they did this with earlier years.

yeah, if you dont have the money to buy a real lift, then you shouldnt be lifting your truck;)

Soak your body mount bolts about a week ahead of time, spray them all once or twice a day. Take em out, put the 3" stilts in and rebolt them with the grade 5 bolts, which should be grade 8. either keep the shift linkage in or find the angle at which the two ends are different. Slap a thing of diamond plate in the rear by the bumper and call your truck badass:bat:

I have a suspension and body lift. I love it! Makes it way easier to access things underneath. Plus, you could tuck the exhaust up nice and high if needed.

dude, the sticker on the side says Z71 OFF ROAD. clearly the suspension needs no modification ;)

im probably going to go solid axle this summer so i dont really want to spend the money right now. besides, the body lift is a christmas present lol

plus if you have a real lift but dont off road what does that make you? mall crawler. So as long as you take t6he truck off road who cares what you have.

back in the day, my bronco had 8" suspension and 3" body, with energy suspension mounts. ended up giving me about a 4" body lift, which in turn was one of the best things i could have done with mine.
Like orion said, you can tuck your exhaust up, which i did, running it between the body and frame, hiding everything except the tips, and is also giving me room to swap in a big block, and actually work on it. body lifts don't look as good as suspension lifts but hell, they're cheaper and give you a lot more room to work. ---- and that's a good thing!

Are you just gonna run body lift or do anything else? Are you gonna wheel your truck now or you just want something kinda big?

Jesseman445
