A buddy of mine got one for 150 bucks. He bought a suburban that didnt run or move from an old lady. Had a 60 and a big block in it. He had to take it all out but was well worth it.

Now anybody feel free to correct me if im wrong but I am to believe the Dana 60 axles were used in 3/4 ton and 1 ton trucks. I have a set of what I am to beleive are Dana 60 axles and they came out of a full time 4wd 3/4 ton pick up. Some people do not agree with me that they are dana 60 because I told them they came out of a 3/4 ton truck. I have done research and talked to people who know this stuff for and that is the information i have obtained.

if its a full time 4wd t-case it must be a np203 or a 208 if im right, my buddy did get a 1 ton chev pickup with a 454, th400 and a 203, so if thats your same drivetrain i would believe that you have a dana 60, but i'm not a chevy expert but i would think in a 3/4 ton the front end would be an eight lug dana 44, not a dana 60, but who knows. and easy way to find out is to look how the leaves are mounted on the pumpkin side, there would be 1 U-bolt and 2 bolts that go through the plate into the pumpkin, if it has that its a 60 and if you need 2 U-bolts on that side, its a 44, i think this is only true on Chevy dana 60's tho.

Yeah but front dana 60's are one ton and **** you John for saying I don't know ****.

Oh yeah my 3/4 ton truck is full time 4wd but I don't have dana 60's I have a dana 44 hd closed knuckle front axle with 8 lug outers.

Are there any markings on the axle? How many bolts hold the front cover on?

i do not belive that a dana 60 came in a 3/4 ton chevy(possibly if custom ordered from factory?) every 3/4 ton ive seen/heard about has had a dana 44.

Who gives a **** if you have dana 60's. Right now all you got are "dana 60's" sitting under your frame. Your still doing all the easy ****. Don't take it the wrong way, but I am suprised you've only done the axles, leafs and finally set the motor, tranny and tcase in. I would have thought that would only take a month tops to do that little, being you have all the parts, everything is stock and lines up and you've done it before. At the pace your going now, I don't think your going to have "the biggest truck in school" because the hard stuff is comming real quick. The cab and wiring is gonna be the hardest, but its gonna take a loong time to get all the little stuff done that needs to be done very well. Like say ground wires, gas lines, brake lines, sensors etc. Your "dana 60's" don't mean **** to me because they are how many years old? It was a deseil too, which i am sure there was some weight onto those. new ball joints, seals, wheel bearings etc are always nice to have..

You know what kind of axles you really got? Parked ones

those axles are deffinetly bigger its hard not to notice haha, ill get them pics on monday when work on it.... i have been ordering parts for those axles and coming out with the right ones, so i would believe I am correct seeing that its works out when looking up the right parts for what I assume I have and they fit. Im not saying you dont know **** ryan, in most cases you know more than I do.

Well I guess I haven't replaced anything on the front yet, just the rear. I have seen on other pictures of dana 60's the front being smaller like mine is. Sweet, what the news on those 350's?

There were some 3/4 tons that did come with front 60's if you look at the 70's Fords, the Camper specials and I believe the club cab 3/4's came with front 60's.

yeah, some fords came with dana 60 front's but i still have not been proven that dana 60's came in 3/4t chevy's, ive asked a few sources and everyone say's they didnt come in 3/4t chevy's..

I know but look at his tire size 15 inch rim. Can they fit over dana 60 brakes? And the stock ttb is 5 lug so one or the other had to be changed unless he is running mismatch rims

89Orion
11-27-2006, 09:25 PM
I'd give my left nut for a front Dynatrac 60. They are 5 lug. You can order them with any pattern you want, I believe. Also, have disc brakes on the rear and a Detroit Locker.

Chapes

i wouldnt give my left nut for a dynatrac 60 but id give em both for a front and rear set of dynatrac dana 80's

Looks to be right. I see 14 bolts. I know it's not a 60 or a Sterling 10.25. Front definitely looks like a D44. Pretty much has the same cover as mine. I'm no expert, but that's my take on it.
