This isn't from the Slew but it is about a future pit hopefully. I'm looking for advice on making a good pit. We got farm equipment and my uncle has a big backhoe i could possibly get my hands on. We have a field out back with about 20 acres around it. There is a swampy area that has dried up a little bit but still not dry. What do i need to do to make it a good one, i'm looking for something that someone with 37's or 8's will really struggle with but have a chance with so everyone can give it a go and i don't have to pull people out allll day.

if you already have a swamp all you really need is water and some friends with trucks. and a weekend of fun. ole blue should reply to this one he made a pretty good pit last year

one of my brothers friend made a pit on his farm in the woods. He took out all the stumps and created a dam going to it, where he could stop it or fill it.

As long as you can control the water, you'll have a decent pit...

Yeah, the hard part isn't making a mud pit, it's making a mud pit that doesn't get too deep for what you're running. I think that you are on the right track... of being able to control the amount of water in the pit.

Make sure to take TONS of pictures every step of the way! I'd love to see it!

k, we had 45 acres, sold 15 off in 5 acre parcels, 10 to my cousin, but we know everyone so we basically still have 45 acres. Anyways...i am going home this weekend FINALLY from school, just finished finals today. I'm gonna take the tractor out and till up a couple sposts to see how wet they are this weekend and take the truck through, i'll have a pretty good idea whats goin on by monday so i'll let you all know, we'll see how its goin and maybe have a couple runs soon, i'll be there messin around either way. I'm right off of hwy 97 and 15/manning trail which is about 10 min. west of the 35w/35e junction.

well, we officially had a damn good time on saturday night, we have no action pics but got the day after pics. There was me, my buddy in his cherokee w/3" and 31's, and my cousin in his 99' f250 4x4. the 99' got buried within the first 5 minutes tryin to follow me but after that he took some easy passes and we had some fun. When i pinned it i was diggin up to 12-15 inch ruts in the fresh untouched stuff. We didn't venture into the bad spot where its a little deeper and wider since it was dark and i didn't want to pull myself out w/the tractor. It was prime muddin though and it was plenty sloppy, looks like we'll be havin some runs and definitly a good time. I think its got potential to be real nasty over in some of the bad areas, i'll be setting somethin up soon, two or three weekends from now if not sooner hopefully. Here are a couple different pics of the three areas we tore up, not bad for three trucks and about 1 1/2 hours. Even though the 99' and the jeep were both COVERED in mud ( i roosted the 99' when he was stuck) i barely had any mud on the body, but it was flyin.

Also... make sure that you never let any sort of swamp vegitation start growing! If it does, the DNR can come in and declare it a wetland... even if it's man made. Then it's game over for you're new hole!

i know this is old but, if all goes well after this labor day weekend, you should have a little mud run sometime in early september, or early october. sound like fun? as long as i dont break sh*t

hey guys, it has been a long time since i've been around, i'm goin to school down in kato and i've pretty swamped. With the snow melting and it gettin warmer i'm gettin ready for some more muddin though. I'm going to try and put on a pig roast and mud run sometime this spring/summer. I'll keep you all informed when it gets a little closer or i go for a weekend to tear it up a little.

anyone got a minute or two to come over and tear up some mud. I gotta be out of town for the next two wknds but i want to get it tore up while its wet so later in the summer all it will take is a little water. The mud is great, really soft, wet, and sticky. It worked over my 39's pretty well and i didn't even go in the messy stuff. If anyone has time either this thursday or next week any day but wed.

heres a little bit of my night of damage, i guess its kinda handy to have descent mud and water in your backyard. here is a front view, couple shots of the mud, and left to right swing shot. If i got a couple more trucks over here it could be great.
