This weekend I noticed a few mud trucks that used large lift blocks on the front axle. Now I have always been told that you don't want to use blocks for the front.
Is there a way to do it safely? Or is it something that should just be avoided?

avoided the front end takes too much abuse and has too much wieght on it. you can use small blocks but not much more than an inch or two

i have 2inch blocks in the front i just tack welded them on and thay hold just fine.
Muddin, its not as huge a deal. looks gay as hell tho. but its cheap and works. Dont do it on the street. too much of the stopping is done with the front axle. Hard nuff stop and it'll fold under on ya.

I ran a 1" block/spacer on my old truck but I drilled the center and got a longer certering pin so it was actually bolted to the leaf spring. Never had a problem with it moving at all, but I would not go any bigger than that especially if you are just relying on the u-bolts to keep it in place.
