So a buddy and I went out and bought a pair of RC airplanes this weekend... Little park flyer deals.

Is anyone else into RC?

I have:

.40 size CAP 232 areobatic plane (needs a new motor)
1/5 scale P51 (81" wingspan) under construction
a DuraTrax NitroQuake RC Monster Truck (with an OS .21)
NEW: Hobbyzone Firebird Freedom
If I ever get it back together, a Rigger nitro boat.

The planes look like they'd be a lot of fun, but I'd be worried about crashing it.

Now I can say that I've seen you crash too!

Actually, your plane tends to be about a mile down the road, behind a bunch of trees or buildings, when you crash!

We really need to start filming Swampy when ever he takes his plane out! Guaranteed quality footage!

im like the best crasher i know of. when you lose the plane behind trees its time to start running

I've killed the Firebird!

I did get some on board video before the electronics starting acting up though. I'll see if I can post them somewhere.

We also tried to film the death of the plane in a spectacular way, but SOMEONE couldn't keep the plane in the viewscreen of the camera!

I've always liked RC10s. I had the Nitro Quake running the other day. But at some point during one of the many roll overs, I lost the air filter. Gonna have to get another one of thoes before I run it again.

Here is some (very shakey) video from the nose of my RC Airplane. It was very windy, so flying smooth wasn't an option.

I'll try to get a better one up soon (when my replacement plane gets here!)

those air filters are cheap as hell... and you might as well buy extras

Actually... the one I had was a little tiny K&N. But you're right. I should keep a few spare foam filters.

If you really want to learn how to fly well, the cheapest way (in the long run) is to buy RealFlight G3. Its an RC Plane simulator for your computer. It even comes with a replica futaba controller to use. You can download a demo from realflight.com (http://www.realflight.com).

Sea planes are cool... but you need really calm water to fly them.

twist is that some good stuff u got there

i got a hpi savage2.5 and a nitro rustler .25
the mini k&n is not as good as a foam filter looks way cooler but not as effective

I'm building a mudder right now, I'm using steel break line for the chassis, and 5 inch tires off of a toy tractor.

10-20-2009, 10:47 PM
well i have a redcat volcano truck only a .18 with a body that looks like mr dodge's truck
then i have a exceed rc buggy (theres 4 total within the family) with .16 engine and anyone wanting to get in to the hobby look around for exceed rc they have the buggy going for 119 it was 130 with shipping.....they break the same as traxxas only problem is havin to order parts offline but if you order alot of parts at once then its not so bad

10-21-2009, 01:04 AM
I just got a traxxas t-maxx sportmaxx. Bought it off a friend who got bored with it. He bought it when he was going to school for machining. It was a school project to make parts for it. So it has custom built aluminum bumpers, skid plates and a-arms. Right now it severely needs to be cleaned. It also needs a new body and a couple of new shocks. But all in all I'm happy with it.

No RC stuff for me.

Though, the "mad scientist" part of me has always wanted to build a full size RC buggy.....
