I want to put a 6 inch lift in my chevy this summer. I have been thinking of going with skyjacker.. opinions? What all should be ordered besides the kit? WIll brake lines need to be extended? Driveshafts?

beware I had a 4" lift in 98 chev and parts wear put faster you cant keep it aligned for very long wich intern wears out your tires.

Well I plan on doing a solid axle swap for this truck next year in shop class so that would help with that problem.

So why waste time and money on the lift for the IFS if your just going to take it out in a year?

i have installed 2 of them. your talking a minnimum of 20 hours with 3 people and with some kits you have to cut a mount off your front diff so you cant go back to stock. if your going to do a sas i would wait and do one of them if you want an ifs lift they are fine but you are talking about 2000 said and done and you will have a hard time selling a used one for 1000. im not saying not to do the lift just make sure which one you want and go with that one. it will save you a lot of money and headache. i would suggest if your not going to mud the truck leave it ifs.:llama: :sw: ps dont go rancho you will have problems with alighnment superlift or fabtech ar by far the best you wont have near as many problems.

if your going to put a lift in a chevy with ifs stay away from the skyjacker lifts go with a bds a fabtech and then a pro comp. the kits are easier to install and from the ones we have done here at the shop they are the best designed.

I can second the fabtech lift or recommend Super Lift. I helped put a FabTech in a 1999 Chev. I've also owned a 1989 Chev with a trail master 6" (JUNK!!!) and a 1998 Chevy with a 6" Superlift. The Superlift was a lot of work to put in, but it held up very well! I even had it out jumping some ice heaves on a frozen lake, and I never had a problem with alingment.

So, if it were me, I'd go either Fabtech or Superlift. But you do have to cut off mounting points to fit all the lifts I've worked on.. It's a one way conversion!
