So, lets see them!

I'm going to cheat right off the bat, and show some pictures of my last truck, cause I don't have any of my current truck.

My current truck is a 2001 GMC Sierra LT. Power heated leather seats, OnStar, Every option possible. It's a really comfortable truck.

My last truck was a little bigger.

Before the lift:

That is my old '01 Raptor in the back.

After the lift:

This was taken a few days after it was lifted, and the day before it got exhaust.

Lets see another picture of that good lookin wheeler!:

For being 17 you have a nice truck when I was 17 I had an 89 mustang that you could lift the floor mats and stick your feet out for brakes. Considering they sucked. :crutch:

haha my daily driver once it warms up will be my 70 ford. Before I riveted in new steel I could do just that.

Betty, my daily driver is in the shop right now; she's a 97 2-dr s-10 blazer. Transmission has been starting to go for a couple months now. When I lost drive and 3rd a couple weeks ago, I decided it was time to get it fixed. Poor girl. She has quite a personality. Currently, I'm driving a 95 GMC until Betty's all better.

Wow. That 95 GMC sounds like a pretty sweet ride!

I wish I had a truck like that!

Here is a pic of my daily driver for the next month or so. Then I will be on the motorcycle. These were taken last summer when camping.

Mine has just a few mods done to it. Nothing that is easy to spot other than the exhaust but it is not stock but that is more sound than anything.

I wanted to get a Sierra Denali until I found out how the AWD system works and that there is no Low Range. That and the Crew Cab is better for my use. When the Denali came out in Crew Cab they dropped the Quarasteer which is what I wanted. Oh well. It never seems as though you can buy the truck you want. So we build what we want into the truck. I have been happy with it so far but wish I had a Duramax at times. Too bad they won't put one in it.

Don't get your hopes up. I am the State Coordinator for the largest Avalanche Forum in the US.

Yes, they do make a 2500 with the 8.1 engine however the 2006 model year is the last year you can buy it. Once it comes out in the new body style for 2007 they have dropped the Cladding Option and no more 2500. There are no plans as of now to bring back the 2500 Avalanche. People on the forum are screaming. The problem with the Duramax lies in the same reason that it is not available in a Suburban. You see the 1500 Avalanche and 1500 Suburban are nearly identical. The Avalanche is 1" wider, 2" longer and 400lbs heavier. Specs are similarly different with the 2500s. The problems are the following and why neither vehicle has seen or likely will see a production Duramax...

1. The transmission tunnel is not large enough to accommodate the Allison Tranny. GM will not hook a Duramax up to their standard 2500 tranny. This can be addressed with a body lift in the truck and there are people that have done this. I don't recall if it was a 2" or 3" body lift but it has to be done for enough clearance. This is the case with the Avalanche and Suburban as they share body dimensions.

2. Current production capacity is at max. The factory cannot produce enough Duramax engines to meet the demand of the Sierra and Silverado trucks. This is why they are so expansive and you don't see discounts on them very often.

3. (Avalanche only) The Suburban is a more popular product line so if anything were to get a Duramax from the factory it would be a Suburban first.

At the Avalanche Forum we actually have a member that works for GM's research department and has been conducting polls as to what our thoughts are with our current model Avalanches, what we think about the new model and what we would like to see in future model Avalanches. It is impressive that the club has enough membership and that is appears that GM is listening to us. We know that GM has been monitoring our mods and comments as some of the very things that we have been talking about for years is slowly popping up as factory options on the new models. It is a good sign that GM is willing to reach out to a large body of people that use their product for direct feedback. We have been very open with their research department and have been providing a lot of not only good ideas but realistic ways that they can apply these changes to their production line to make it better. Some of the stuff is pretty crazy but other ideas are very possible and I would expect to see them in the next year or two. It will be interesting to see where the truck will be in the next 5 years.

The site doesn't cost anything to be a member. There are some pretty cool people on there as well. MN isn't very active in comparison to some of the southern states but we have members up here.
