If the site has been slow for you over the last few weeks, you aren't alone.

The site is getting to a point where we have outgrown our current host. As a result, everything has been running pretty slowly. I turned off some of the more CPU intensive features of the site to help, but it's time for an upgrade. Espically with the MNMud Version 4 upgrade coming soon!

Last week, I purchased a new VPS (Virtual Private Server) for the site. (and you thought I was spending all the ad money on cheap beer and expensive women!) This gives us space on the internet with CPU, Memory, and all kinds of other good stuff dedicated to us alone.

What that means for you is that once the server changeover is complete, the site should be noticeably faster. Not only that, but having our own server lets me tweak certain settings that will allow it to be faster yet.

I made the final setting changes to complete the server migration at about 9pm, Sunday, March 21st. Because of the way this change pushes it's way thru the internet, it could take up to 48 hours for everyone to be on the new server.

The fastest way to tell if you're running on the new hardware is this: Go to www.minnesotamud.com (the homepage, not the forums). If you see the "Featured Classified Ad" box on the left of the page, you're on the old server. If it's gone, you're on the new box!

And as always, if anyone sees any problems or errors on the site, please send an email to support@minnesotamud.com

Thanks!
