Had a slight problem with the plug on my 93 silverado tranny. talked to the resident superhero (twisted wrench) and with his advice fixed the problem. thought i would throw up a thread on how it went.
the problem...
when the plug was pushed onto the socket, it pushed the socket into the transmission.

see how the clips that hold it in place are inside the tranny casting.
so i dropped the pan to get a better look at the socket from the inside.

you can see how the oring is almost completely visable on the inside.
i pushed the socket up from the inside so it was flush with the inside of the transmission case. and then i could see the plastic clips that were supposed to hold it in place.

i didnt get a pic of this, but i used twisted suggestion of using a zip strip to wrap around the socket under the clips to hold it in place.

from there i just pluged the plug back in making sure the socket didnt move and then bolted the pan back up and filled it up and took it for a test drive. worked great.
thanks troy for your help, and hope this will help someone else out.
