If you install the turbo make sure you get egt, trans, and boost gauges. them naturally aspirated 6.6/7.3s can only take 10psi make before the head gaskets leak.

definatly i wont mess around with that stuff, also any of you diesel guys have any idea why i would be sucking air into my lines it sounds like it is the water seperator, i drove it home 5 hours not a shake or studder then the next day i had about 15 min of messing around to get er going after it died in town after driving an hour or so and today i couldnt get out of the driveway i got it running for five min or so at one point but started sucking air again any ideas?

are you sure its sucking air? it could be a dirty fuel filter or partially gelled fuel.

did it run crappy when you first started it after it sat over night?

x2 any weather under 10 you should be adding an additive, i always added at 20 and below unless the truck was planed to sit for more then a day

do you know how old the fuel is? is it #2 diesel, biodiesel, or farm fuel?
i put the power service aditive (some times white some times silver bottle) in every tank. the new low sulfer doesnt lubercate the injection pump or injectors very good. the orange bottle is only for degelling fuel and it WILL NOT prevent gelling

-alright heres my best answer to everyones question or suggestion,
-im picking up filters today
-air bleeds out of the valve on the filter when i press on the needle
-i am 100 percent sure the diesel is not getting gelled there was water in there when i bought it so it has a crap-ton of additive in it now
-i also have used power service additive since i put fuel in the first time
-at least 70 percent of the fuel is new i would say, had a half a tank of 3mo old stuff and i have burned about 20 gallons thru it
-also going to throw more fuel in it, it has 2/3 of a tank but i hear the pickups like to break on these

It might be the lift fuel pump bad? Not supplying anough fuel to the injection pump. Its hard to say with out looking at it.

princetonjake pretty sure i agree with you, now it will only start by dumping fuel in the filter and putting it back on then runs about 10 seconds im going to go pick up a lift pump and let er warm up in the garage and if she dont start then, the lift pumps going in

So i replaced the lift pump, filled the filter with fuel to prime the system and she roared right up let it warm up and drove it for about ten min and parked it for the night, next afternoon it started and died after 10 seconds, i kept turning it over till i started losing cranking power and pulled the filter, sure enough 3/4 full, so i filled it up and she popped right off let it warm up and drove fine for ten min or so, four hours later it started and died again, pulled the filter filled it up and it started again, only it died again, did that three times or so and it wont keep running
I AM STUMPED!!!

i'm not a ford guy but at speedee on the 6.5's we had this problem alot and the fuel wouldn't leak but the injection lines would start to suck air just from old age and what not. to find these leaks we would spray the lines down with either to find the leaks....might be a place to start otherwise we also had alot of problems with injection pumps doing this. the seals inside would go to ****e and start sucking air and not hold there prime might be another place to start......like i said i'm not a ford guy and haven't really worked on the old ford diesels but just a couple idea's
