ok here the first one i am still in process of thinking. I am going to swap the ifs in my wifes 96 s10 blazer. still debating on weather to put leafs up front or go with coils. I found a dana 30 from a 66 bronco with a long arm kit.

A 66 bronc has a dana 44 front. It is narrow and would work nice for your s10 but it has small u-joints. Look for an 80's wagoneer front

Sorry for the bad info there, I thought all early bronco's had d44's.

The guy I get my u-joints from shortened a 78/79 ford d44 for an s10 he was building, didn't seem like its too hard to do and would be fun little project. He took all the lenght out of the passenger side. I'm not sure what you'd do about an axle shaft. If you went that route you would have high pinion and disk brakes, plus cool points:cool:

that should be cool I did that to that Clifford truck that I built last year maybe you could find the build on here and get some ideas but I would put coils in it

i will get some pics

ok pick a dana 30 up out of a 87 wrangler (for free and delivered) so couldnt turn that down it is complete just needs wheel bearing replaced
but it is that vaccum style (auto hubs) so my next question (i think i know how) how do i replace the auto hubs to manual lock out hubs is there a way or should i leave auto

still need to get leafs havent desided what use or how high to go

Well, that particular axle might be more hassle than it's worth.

The 87-95 wranglers used a vacuum shift motor on the transfer case with a vacuum line going to the diff to actuate a fork that engages the front axle. So even if your transfer case is in 4, you would need the vacuum shift motor to engage power IN the front axle. Don't ask me why jeep did this.

Thankfully, Quadratec has a nifty little deal to fix it. (well, sort of)

They also recomend you replace the shift fork when doing this.

The D30 in my jeep i removed the vaccum disco stuff and put a solid axle from an XJ in there with the 297 joints same size as D44 Drive high way speeds with no binding and it has a trac lock
