Well I know this is not much but it is on my 4x4 and being a new guy here I wanted to post up something so I'll post up what I just went out and did today, as more of you get to know me you will realize that I am a BUDGET BUILDER all the way.. if I can make it myself or fix it by reusing something and doing it cheap, I'm all over it, I take Budget Building as a challenge and do it with pride, I'm glad I'm a tight azz :D, any ways with having a 1979 4x4 truck as my family driver for me the wife and daughter, I wanted a hard shell tonneau cover to keep the snow out of the back this winter, but I'll be damned if I am going to pay over $300 bucks for one.. so I did a little recycling , I took some heavy ply wood that I saved when I took down my dads pool that has a aluminum skin on it, some old angle iron from some bed frames, 1 can of bed coating and some big self drilling screws, it cost me about $15 bucks to do this and about 2 hours of my time, and Wah-Lah, a hard shell cover to keep shet clean and dry this winter, I think it will work out good

Thanks, I'm 300 + pounds and I was laying on it to screw it down, so I know its strong enough, and like I said I know its not much of a project but its something, I have a lot more going on this winter with my mud bog build that I will post up soon,
this was just something to get me started here.....but it does show that these things can be done cheaply and relatively nicely
here is a side shot of my rig, I like it like this and didn't want a topper on it

I put those on because I was cleaning up the truck to represent my local site at the 4th of July parade this year

Yea there was three of us that did it, I heard on my local radio that they were looking for people to participate in the parade so I asked my fellow mud brothers if they were interested in joining me in it, I have an 8 yr old daughter and she had a blast throwing candy and rubber ducks out to the kids along the route

No Hinge, I don't need one, I'll only be using the area by the back where I can reach, I can always climb up in there if I have too, if someone wanted to make one it wouldn't be hard to do it nicer with a hinge etc.. that orange dodge gets used and used hard, he has a doubler in it and front and rear winches, he calls it the " Extractor " plus he drives it on the road almost daily
